Recognize the buttholes, then ignore them

I have 3 daughters. I’m constantly concerned with protecting them. Protecting them from all sorts of irrational ideas that my mind can conceive. Yesterday something happened in the twitterverse that gave me an idea about what I could teach them to protect themselves best in their day-to-day lives.

Recognize the buttholes, then ignore them.

Seems pretty easy for me. But I don’t think it is for everyone. In fact I have evidence: http://harthur.wordpress.com/2013/01/24/771/. This is a pretty classic case wherein people say or do stupid shit and the recipient of the shit gets hurt.

I think it’s pointless to go after the buttholes and tell them to not be buttholes. Rather than that, I say let them continue to be buttholes – they will eventually ruin it for themselves. Instead I’m going to teach my girls what a butthole is and how to ignore them. My girls have better lives to lead than to suffer ridicule and criticism from arrogant buttholes.

Heather Arthor is a champ. I hope she brushes her shoulders off and gets right back at it.

Update: I was provided a smarter option by Tom Dale. My girls should be aware that sometimes good people do shitty things. Call them on it. Keep driving. I think my point remains – but should be qualified with an assumption that its not always because people are buttholes.

  1. Someone who really does not like Steve

I’d actually already blocked butthole number1 aka Steve Klabinak on Twitter. The guy’s an Arsehole, with a capital A.
